D-Link wins Maximum award for Xtreme N Wireless Router DIR-655
January 23, 2008
Maximum PC, one of the nation’s most popular magazines serving the computer industry and consumer electronics in general, has selected D-Link’s fastest home network router as the “best of the best” product in its category for 2007.
The Maximum PC editors stated in the latest issue that the D-Link® Xtreme N™ Wireless Router DIR-655 passed its rigorous lab tests with flying colors, and pointed to its “combination of killer performance, unique skills and an all-inclusive feature set” to put the product on the honoree pedestal.
Maximum PC editors added that the DIR-655, based on the latest draft 802.11n wireless technology for optimal speed and range, displays “unparalleled tweakability, customizable quality-of-service (QoS) settings, best-in-class range and throughput, and a built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch – no other router comes close.”
They also echoed what most industry experts are now saying: “It’s been a long wait, but (draft) 802.11n wireless routers are finally worth buying… .”
In addition to the draft 802.11n technology, editors were impressed with the router’s built-in intelligence. While many competing routers put network traffic into a single data stream, the DIR-655’s QoS capabilities use multiple data streams to prevent throughput delays by prioritizing certain applications such as video streaming, online gaming or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone calls. The product also provides state-of-the-art security with support for advanced WPA™ or WPA2™ encryption.

It enables customers to achieve the compute performance they need while lowering their overall power consumption and reducing data center complexity and server sprawl.”
The PowerEdge M1000e, a 10U-sized enclosure, supports 16 blade servers. It is optimized for Dell’s PowerEdge M600 and M605 blade servers and supports up to two quad-core Intel® Xeon® and quad-core AMD OpteronTM processors, respectively. The M600 and M605 blade servers are 60 percent more dense than standard 1U servers, helping customers to better address data center space constraints.
Additionally, Dell’s PowerEdge M1000e delivers the industry’s most advanced connectivity options designed to provide flexible, low total cost of ownership choices for almost any size data center, including:
